World Alzheimer’s Day 21st Sept
“Every 68 seconds, someone develops Alzheimer’s disease. At current rates, experts believe one third of British people born in 2015 will develop dementia.” World Alzheimer’s Day, September 21st of each year, is a day on which Alzheimer’s organizations around the world concentrate their efforts on raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, a group of disorders that impairs mental functioning. Why was 21 September selected as World Alzheimer's Day? World Alzheimer's Day was launched at the opening of Alzheimer’s Disease International's annual conference in Edinburgh on 21 September 1994 to celebrate their 10th anniversary. World Alzheimer's Day is an initiative of ADI. Each year, ADI seeks financial support to produce and distribute World Alzheimer's Day materials around the world, enabling members to organise events in their different countries. The theme for World Alzheimer's Day 2015 is Remember Me. The Alzheimer’s Society are encouraging people all around the world to learn to spot the signs of dementia, but also not to forget about loved ones who are living with dementia, or those who may have passed away. Remember to GO PURPLE ON SEPTEMBER 21ST World Alzheimer's Day is on 21 September each year, the pinnacle of World Alzheimer's Month.
