Inspiring story of ex Iraq soldier suffering with double incontinence

We recently spotted a great feature on incontinence via The Bladder and Bowel Foundation written by Adam – a former Royal Dragoon Guard who was injured in Iraq.  He sustained serious spinal injuries but it was only some time into his treatment that he realised that he had lost the sensation of knowing when he wanted to go the toilet. Doubly incontinent Adam describes his progress via Botox injections to help his urinary incontinence, to a point on advice from his urologist he had surgery and had a bilateral implant device fitted.  Nowadays Adam does still have issues but his condition is managed so much more successfully with the device that his incontinence issues are much milder and easier to cope with – using incontinence night insert pads for example to protect against leaks. Speaking out is not easy but as Adam puts it " Everyone takes going to the loo for granted. They don't realise that incontinence changes your life around and it doesn't help that adult incontinence remains such a taboo subject.  Don't be on your own … find someone to talk to." To read Adam's story in full visit:  http://www.bladderandbowelfoundation.org/news-and-events/_2013_10_11.asp?news=yes&newsid=552. The Bladder and Bowel Foundation is a great place to reach out to get help – find them at www.bladderandbowelfoundation.org.  Adam is also the founder of The Forgotten Heroes a charity set up to support the carers of the thousands of injured servicemen and women in the UK.
