Valentine’s Day & National Heart Month!
This Month is National Heart Month and once again the British Heart Foundation are trying to encourage everybody to take a step towards living a healthier lifestyle. Understanding heart conditions isn’t an easy task – there are lots of different types and knowing how the heart works is more helpful when trying to learn about these conditions. But looking at the facts will benefit yourself and the people you love in the long run. Managing your diet, keeping fit, and watching your blood pressure are just a few important factors. The British Heart Foundation’s webpage has information about heart diseases and how you can beat them. Here are some heart-friendly things you can do:- Download the 10 Minutes to Change Your Life booklet with challenges, inspiring stories and top tips for keeping your heart healthy.
- Learn how to keep heart-healthy.
- Sign up to Heart Matters, a free service and magazine which helps promote a heart-healthy lifestyle.
- Join the Health at Work programme to help you promote health and wellbeing in your workplace.
- Get involved in fundraising, campaigning or volunteering.
- 1 cup blood orange juice, plus 2 orange slices for garnish
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 cup club soda, or sparkling mineral water
- Sweetener, (honey, maple syrup, agave) if desired
- 4 mint leaves
- 2 springs rosemary
- In a medium-sized bowl whisk together blood orange juice, ginger powder, and turmeric powder.
- Add ice to each glass.
- Pour 1/2 cup of blood orange juice mixture into each glass and 1/2 cup club soda.
- Add sweetener if desired and stir.
- Add mint, rosemary and orange slice in each glass.
