A Wee Joke about Incontinence

Have you heard the joke about the woman who peed her pants?  Physio-therapist and mum-of-three Elaine Miller turned to stand-up comedy to tackle the taboo of incontinence. The 45-year-old mum of three describes herself as a “recovered incontinent”.
Elaine, who lives in Edinburgh; conquered her fears and is winning over audiences with her Gusset Grippers show which took place at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival in March. Elaine said: “I had a hobby of comedy and had been offered a short set when I was in my 20s.  But I spent 20 years thinking, ‘I can’t do that’.  It struck me how people can get away with a lot of things as long as it’s funny. If you can make someone laugh, you can make them talk. After the show, women come up and ask how to get things fixed.” The audience at Elaine’s shows leave knowing what their pelvic floor is, what it does and where to go if it’s broken.
