The Colour of Healthy Wee!

1 - 3 is a healthy wee, 4 – 8 you must hydrate! Most of us don’t really like to discuss things like our wee or poos but the reality lies in the fact that both of these excretions are crucial for our sound health. Now what is important is to know what our urine tells about us. Experts say that urine is the easiest way to self-examine what goes on in your body. If there is a problem somewhere, it will show up in your excretion. The change in the smell, colour and odour of your wee are direct indications of malfunctioning of our body systems. This helpful urine colour chart we recently found will give you an idea of whether you are drinking enough water. Hydrated means you are drinking enough and dehydrated means your body has lost water and you need to drink more to make up for the loss. In summary your urine colour chart:
  • Clear or pale yellow means good hydration or mild dehydration
  • Bright Yellow – moderate dehydration
  • Orange/Tea-Coloured – severe dehydration.  Drink water now and if it does not improve go to see the doctor.
Be aware though if you are taking vitamin supplements, some of the vitamin supplements can change the colour of your urine for a few hours. This chart can even be printed off and stuck on you bathroom wall to remind you! Best wishes Incontinence UK Team www.incontinenceuk.co.uk
