International Men’s Day & World Toilet Day: 19th November 2015

This Thursday 19th November is both International Men’s Day and World Toilet Day – both significant days for us at Incontinence UK. World Toilet Day Of the world’s seven billion population; 2.4 billion people do not have improved sanitation. 1 billion people still defecate in the open and poor sanitation increases the risk of disease and malnutrition, especially for women and children. World Toilet Day is a day to raise awareness about all people who do not have access to a toilet – despite the human right to water and sanitation. It is a day to do something about it. Sanitation is a global development priority. This is why in 2013 the United Nations General Assembly officially designated November 19 as World Toilet Day. World Toilet Day is coordinated by UN-Water in collaboration with governments and relevant stakeholders. This year, World Toilet Day is focusing on the link between sanitation and nutrition drawing the world’s attention to the importance of toilets in supporting better nutrition and improved health. Lack of access to clean drinking water and sanitation, along with the absence of good hygiene practices, are among the underlying causes of poor nutrition. There are many, many events going on around the world, click here for a map and list of events and fundraisers. International Men's Day Objectives of International Men's Day (IMD) include a focus on men and boy's health; improving gender relations; promoting gender equality and highlighting positive male role models. It is an occasion for men to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular their contributions to community, family, marriage and child care while highlighting the discrimination against them. This IMD is a significant date as it interfaces the popular 'Movember' charity event where for 30 days men grow moustaches and beards to raise awareness of various cancers including prostate cancer. The ability to sacrifice your needs on behalf of others is fundamental to manhood, as is honour. International Men's Day is an opportunity for people everywhere of goodwill to appreciate and celebrate the men in their lives and the contribution they make to society for the greater good of all. Although most of our incontinence products are unisex, we also have some specific products just for men.  The loss of bladder control is relatively common among men especially in the older age group and for people who suffer with prostrate issues; so do take a look at some of our male incontinence products. Best wishes Incontinence UK Team www.incontinenceuk.co.uk
